Notice of Primary Election – June 4, 2024

NOTICE OF PRIMARY ELECTION

Notice is hereby given that the Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in O’Brien County, Iowa, for the purpose of nominating Democratic, Libertarian, and Republican candidates for Federal, State and County Offices for the General Election.

The polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

On Election Day, voters will cast either a Democratic, Libertarian or Republican ballot. Voters must be registered as, or declare at the polls, a party of either Democratic, Libertarian, or Republican to vote in the Primary Election. Only the candidates for that party will appear on the ballot.

PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE IN POLLING PLACES FOR THE FOLLOWING PRECINCT:

The permanent polling place listed below differs from that used for the previous Primary Election (June 7, 2022).  Registered voters in the precinct with a permanent polling place change were mailed notices.

City of Sanborn/Franklin Twp – Yesterday’s Memories Museum 106 Eastern St. in Sanborn, has been established as the new polling location for all residents in the City of Sanborn and Franklin Township.  This replaces the Sanborn Community Building.

If you do not have a voter registration card, you can request one by contacting the Auditor’s Office.  You may only request a card for yourself, not another person.  Contact the Auditor’s Office with any questions about your voter registration.  Precinct maps and polling location information are available at www.obriencounty.iowa.gov/departments/auditor/

Pre-registered voters are required to provide an approved form of identification at the polling place before receiving and casting a regular ballot.  Voters who are not pre-registered in their current residential precinct, i.e., voters registering to vote on Election Day and voters changing precincts, must also provide proof of residence.  A voter who is unable to provide an approved form of identification (or prove residence, if required) has the following options:

1) may have the voter’s identity/residence attested to by another registered voter in the precinct; 2) prove identity and residence using Election Day Registration documents; or 3) cast a provisional ballot and provide proof of identity/residence at the county auditor’s office by 12 noon on Monday, June 10, 2024.  Election Day Registrant attesters must provide an approved form of identification. Any voter who is physically unable to enter a polling place has the right to vote in the voter’s vehicle.

Public testing of the voting equipment for all precincts will be conducted at the O’Brien County Courthouse at 9:00 a.m. Saturday, June 1, 2024.
